What is the Sciton Joule platform, and how do I know which module fits my skin concerns?
The Sciton Joule is an advanced treatment system that powers three popular technologies: BBL HERO photofacials, SkinTyte tightening, and HALO laser resurfacing. Which one you need depends on your goals. If you want to clear brown sunspots and facial redness, BBL HERO is best. If you want firmer skin with zero downtime, SkinTyte is the choice. If you want to smooth fine lines, shrink enlarged pores, and improve skin texture, HALO is the gold standard. We often combine them for complete results.
What sensations should I expect during a Sciton Joule procedure, and is treatment painful?
Comfort depends on the treatment you receive. BBL HERO and SkinTyte use chilled sapphire crystals that cool your skin continuously, so you feel only a warm snap like a rubber band. For HALO laser resurfacing, we apply a strong numbing cream for about an hour beforehand, turning the sensation into a mild prickling warmth. Afterward, your skin feels like a sunburn for about an hour.
How does recovery and downtime differ between BBL HERO, SkinTyte, and HALO?
SkinTyte has no downtime at all. With BBL HERO, brown sunspots darken into tiny coffee-ground specks over a day or two and naturally wash away over about a week without raw skin. HALO requires a few days of downtime: your skin turns a bronzed, sandpaper texture for a few days before gently flaking off, leaving fresh, glowing skin by day five to seven.
How long do results last, and what maintenance schedule is recommended?
BBL HERO and SkinTyte give you a quick glow and gradual firming that lasts months. Booking two to four touch-ups a year helps keep skin looking fresh and youthful. HALO stimulates collagen deep within the skin, continuing to improve for six months and lasting several years when you protect your skin with daily sunscreen.
What are the primary aftercare instructions following Sciton laser treatments?
Sunscreen is your top priority: stay out of direct sun and wear mineral sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every day. Keep your skin well moisturized with gentle creams. Pause all active ingredients, like retinol, acids, and facial scrubs, for one full week. Never pick or scrub at darkened spots or flaking skin.
