Kybella is designed for adults with fullness under the chin (often called a double chin) that does not go away with diet or exercise. It works best when your skin still has good snap and bounce, so it tightens smoothly as the fullness shrinks. Kybella is not meant for loose, sagging neck skin without excess fat, or for anyone with difficulty swallowing.

We numb the area with cream and ice packs beforehand to keep the needle pinches light. Once Kybella is injected, you will feel a warm, stinging, or aching feeling under the chin that lasts about 15 to 20 minutes while the product goes to work. Cold packs help calm the area right away.

Noticeable swelling is completely normal and means the treatment is working to clear away fat cells. The swelling usually peaks during the first two to three days, making the area look puffier than usual, then steadily improves over one to two weeks. You might also have some bruising or tender firmness. Most patients return to desk jobs in a few days and plan social events around the recovery.

Yes. Kybella destroys the targeted fat cells permanently. Once gone, those cells cannot come back or store fat again. Most people need 2 to 4 visits spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart to reach their ideal jawline contour. You usually notice changes 4 to 8 weeks after each session as your body clears away the treated fat.

Sleep propped up on two pillows for the first two or three nights to keep morning puffiness down. Apply cold packs for 10 to 15 minutes at a time on the first day. Skip heavy lifting, intense workouts, and saunas for two days, and avoid pressing or squeezing the tender area.
